Composition:

Gentamicin sulfate – 10 grams

 

 

Pharmacological properties:

Antibacterial preparation of aminoglycosides group. Gentamicin sulfate has a wide range of bactericidal action, is active in respect to most gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, including ESGCSIA coli, Enterobacter spp.., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Campylobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus spp., Treponema hyodysenteriae, Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus spp., Clostridium spp., Listeria monocytogenes.

The drug is not active against anaerobic bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa.

Antimicrobial action of gentamicin sulfate is based on inhibiting the formation of peptide bonds during protein synthesis in ribosomes of a bacterial cell.

During oral administration, the preparation is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and has an effect only in the intestines. Gentamicin sulfate is excreted from the body in unchanged form, mainly with faeces.

 

 

Application:

Treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in calves, piglets and young poultry of bacterial etiology caused by gentamicin-sensitive microorganisms, including:

– colibacillosis;

– salmonellosis.

Treatment in piglets:

– dysentery;

– campylobacteriosis.

 

 

Dosage:

Oral with drinking water in a dose:

Calves:

On the first day of treatment – 5 grams of the preparation per 220lb (100 kg) body weight in 2 doses at 12-hour intervals.

During the next 2-4 days a dose of 4 grams of the preparation per 220lb (100 kg) body weight is applied once a day.

In group treatment, the dose is 12.5 grams of the preparation per 10 liters of drinking water.

Animals should drink the prepared solution without restriction.

The duration of treatment is 3-5 days.

The prophylactic dose is half of the therapeutic dose for 5-7 days;

Pigs:

Colibacillus dose and duration of application is 11 grams of the drug per 100 liters of drinking water for 3 days;

Salmonellosis -15 grams of the preparation for 100 liters of drinking water for 4 days;

Campilobacteriosis and dysentery – 22 grams of the preparation for 100 liters of drinking water for 5 days.

The prophylactic dose is half of the therapeutic dose for 5-7 days.

Poultry:

Young farm birds (broilers, repair youngsters, turkeys from the first days of life) Gentamicin powder is sold out with water at the rate:

5 grams of the preparation per 100 liters of drinking water. The duration of treatment is 5-7 days.

The prophylactic dose is half of the therapeutic dose within 5-7 days.

 

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to gentamicin.

 

Cautions:

The slaughter of animals (pigs and calves) and poultry for meat is allowed in 10 days, the use of internal organs of pigs and calves is allowed in 14, chicken broilers in 25 days after the last application of the preparation. The meat received before the specified period is disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the opinion of the veterinary medicine doctor. The antibacterial effect of gentamicin can significantly reduce the various salts of sodium, calcium and potassium (carbamates, sulfates, chlorides, phosphates and nitrates), so this drug does not need to be mixed with any other preparation. The preparation must be completely dissolved in water before it is administered to the animal. A fresh solution should be prepared every day. After applying the product, hands should be washed.

 

 

Storage:
