Dogs and cats for the prevention and treatment of mixed infestations caused by larvae and adult helminths of the digestive tract: Ankylostomiasis (Ancylostoma caninum), Diphylobothrium latum (Diphyllobothrium, D minus), dipylidiosis (Dipylidium caninum), toxocariasis (Toxocara canis, T. cati), trichocephalosis (Trichoctptalus vulpis and T. nutpia), toxascariasis (Toxascaris leonina), unzinariasis (Uncinaria stenoctphala), teniosis (Taenia hydatigena, T. multictps), and some others.
Pharmacological properties :
Antiparasitic drug of broad spectrum action.
When administered orally nyclozamide is not absorbed from digestive tract and in contact with tapeworms inhibits oxidation-phosphorolytic processes, leads to weakening and rapid death of scolexes and segments of parasites, which are partially digested and excreted from the body of animals.
Oxybendazole disrupts glucid metabolism in nematodes by blocking ATP formation, which causes paralysis and death of parasites of all stages of development just a few hours after administration of the drug.
Levamisole enhances nematodeocidal effect of oxybendazole and is an effective immunomodulator. During further vaccination it promotes formation of postvaccination immunity of high level.
Directions for use and doses:
For kittens and puppies – one tablet per 8.8lb (4 kg) or 1/4 tablet per 2.2lb (1 kg) body weight.
The calculated dose is divided into two parts and given at 24-hour intervals.
First dehelminthization for puppies is carried out before vaccination at the age of 4-5 weeks, for kittens – at the age of 6 weeks.
Thereafter, it is desirable to use the drug prophylactically in specified doses every 3-4 months.
Cautions :
Do not exceed recommended doses. Some animals with severe infestation due to intoxication by digested helminth parts may cause hives and itching in the anus, diarrhea, vomiting, anxiety. These symptoms quickly disappear without special treatment.
