Oxytetracycline powder is a light yellow powder, poorly soluble in water.
Oxytetracycline is a tetracycline group antibiotic produced by Streptomyces rimosus. It has a wide range of antibacterial action, is active against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptomyces rimosus, Rickettsia and some types of mycoplasma; it does not affect the blue stick, proteins, most fungi and small viruses.
The mechanism of antibacterial action of oxytetracycline is based on suppression of protein synthesis of microbial cell (blockage of ribosomal function) and blockage of RNA synthesis.
Treatment of cattle, pigs and poultry with respiratory and digestive diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline.
The drug is used for colibacillosis, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, mycoplasmosis, staphylococcal infection, rickettsiosis, actinomycosis and other diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to drugs of tetracycline group.
Spectrum of action:
Highly effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms, mycoplasma, chlamydia, rickettsia, eimerium, actinomycetes. The preparation is particularly effective against colibacillosis and salmonella.
The drug is prescribed orally in a mixture of feed or water for 3-5 days.
Cattle 0.05-0.1 grams / 2.2lb (1kg);
Pigs 0.075-0.150 grams / 2.2lb (1kg);
Chickens, turkeys, ducks 0.1-0.25 grams / 2.2lb (1kg) of animal weight 2 times a day until recovery.
The bird can be used with water at the rate of 25 grams per 5 liters of water and boiled until it recovers.
Individual hypersensitivity of animals to tetracycline group antibiotics.;
It is allowed to slaughter animals for meat no sooner than 6 days after the last use of the preparation. The meat of animals involuntarily killed before the expiry of the said period may be used for feeding carnivorous animals or for processing into meat and bone meal.
Milk obtained from animals during the treatment period and within 2 days after the last administration of oxytetracycline may not be used for food purposes. Such milk may be used after heat treatment for feeding animals.
Dry dark place, inaccessible for children at temperatures between 64-77F (18°C and 25°C).
Shelf life: 4 years from the date of manufacture.
