Pharmacological property :

Levamisole hydrochloride, which is part of the preparation, belongs to the antihelminthic agents of imidazole group and has a wide range of nematodocidal action.

It is active against larval and semi-mature phases of GIT and lung nematode development, including Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Dictyocaulus spp., Protostrondylus spp, Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesphagostomum spp., Chabertia spp. parasitizing in ruminants; Ascaris suum, Strongyloides ransomi, Metastrongyius spp., Oesphagostomum spp. parasitizing in pigs.

The mechanism of action of levamisole is to influence the neuromuscular system and oppress the activity of fumaratreductase enzyme, which causes paralysis of the parasite and leads to its death.

After parenteral administration of the drug, levamisole hydrochloride is quickly resorbed from the injection site and distributed in animal organs and tissues, reaching its maximum concentration in serum in 30-50 minutes, and remains at the therapeutic level for 6-9 hours after injection.

It is excreted from the body within 3-4 days mainly in unchanged form with urine and partially with faeces, and in lactating animals also with milk.
