Transparent solution of pale yellow or yellow color.
100 ml of the drug contains
Ornidazole – 5 grams.
Pharmacological action :
Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent.
Active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica; obligate anaerobic microorganisms: Bacteroides spp. (including Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgatus), Fusobacterium spp, Veillonela spp., Prevotella spp. (Prevotella bivia, Prevotella buccae, Prevotella disiens), Gram-positive microorganisms: Eubacterium spp. Aerobic microorganisms are not sensitive to the drug.
According to the mechanism of action, it is a DNA-tropic drug with selective activity against microorganisms that contain enzyme systems capable of reducing the nitro group and catalyzing the interaction of proteins of ferridoxin group with nitro compounds.
After the drug penetrates the microbial cell, the mechanism of its action is due to the reduction of the nitrogroup under the influence of the microorganism’s nitroreductases and the activity of the already reduced nitroimidazole.
The reduction products form complexes with the DNA of the microbial cell, causing its degradation and disrupting DNA replication and transcription processes.
In addition, products of the drug metabolism exhibit cytotoxic properties and disrupt cellular respiration processes.
Treatment of dogs suffering from amebiasis, dysentery, trichomoniasis, trichomonad urovaginitis, giardiasis, balanceidiosis, skin infections, sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, endocarditis, peritonitis, liver abscess, endometritis, bone and joint diseases, lung abscess caused by protozoa and Bacteroides genus microorganisms sensitive to ornidazole.
For prevention of anaerobic infections after surgical interventions, including those of the abdominal organs, perirectal area and gynecological operations.
Subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml per 22 lb (10 kg) of animal body weight (5 mg of ornidazole per 2.2 lb (1 kg) of body weight) once daily for 3-5 days.
Hypersensitivity to ornidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives.
Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.
Caution should be exercised when using the drug in animals with central nervous system diseases and kidney disease.
Store in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children at temperatures between 40-77F (8 ° C to 25 ° C).
Shelf life – 3 years.
