Description

Composition :

1 ml of the preparation contains

the active ingredient:

Ketoprofen – 100 mg.

Pharmacological properties:

Nesteroid anti-inflammatory agent with analgesic effect and antipyretic properties.

Pharmacodynamic action:

Ketoprofen belongs to the generation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents based on propionic acid.

The inflammatory agent damages the cell and activates the phospholipidases that supply arachidonic acid. It is the basis for cyclogenase and lipoxygenase enzyme systems, which produce inflammatory substances such as prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotriens. Ketoprofen is a double inhibitor of inflammation, blocking the routes of action of cyclogenase and lipoxygenase, thus preventing the formation of prostaglandins and leukotriens.

In addition, ketoprofen is an analgesic agent that affects the central and peripheral nervous system. Its effect is to directly suppress bradykinin, vasodilator and pain mediator. In addition to the action against bradykinin, ketoprofen is active in the central nervous system, suppressing pain.

In horses ketoprofen neutralizes the effect of endotoxins and counteracts intestinal spasms that cause bradykinin.

Pharmacokinetic data:

Ketoprofen absorbs quickly. Cows have peak plasma levels (8.025±1.9 µg/ml) in less than an hour after administration, and the bioavailability of the substance ends. More than 98% binds to plasma proteins and accumulates in inflamed tissues. Ketoprofen has a high affinity with synovial tissues, it spreads and is excreted quickly. The duration of the drug is longer than expected, according to its half-life, which ranges from less than one hour (intravenous administration to horses) to more than five hours (after intramuscular administration to cattle).

Significant ketoprofen concentrations have been found in synovial fluid and are higher here than in plasma, and the half-life of ketoprofen is 2-3 times higher than in plasma. Ketoprofen is metabolized to insignificant biologically active metabolites, and 90% is excreted with urine in the form of glucuronide compounds.
