Description

Composition:

1 gram of the preparation contains

the active substance

Metronidazole – 250 mg.

 

 

Pharmacological action:

Synthetic antimicrobial and antiprotozoic agent, derived from 5-nitroimidazole. The preparation has a bactericidal effect on microorganisms, whose enzymatic systems can restore nitrogroups. Metronidazole disrupts DNA replication and protein synthesis in a microbial cell by inhibiting tissue respiration; it easily penetrates the cell of sensitive microorganisms by binding to DNA and disrupts the replication process.
The drug is active against Trichomonas spp., Gardnerella spp., Giardia spp., Entamoeba histolytica, Balantidium coli, Lamblia spp.., as well as bonded anaerobes Bacteroides spp., Helicobacter pylori, Fusobacterium spp., Veillonela spp., Eubacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Prevotella spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptostreptococcus spp.

 

 

Application :

Treatment of diarrhoea caused by Campylobacter spp., ulcerative gingivitis, giardiasis, amebiasis, hyardiasis, trichomoniasis, anaerobic infections in dogs, cats and minks.for cattle trichomonosis, balanceidiosis and pig dysentery.

 

 

Dosage :

 

Oral dose of 40 mg (10 mg by the active substance) per 2.2lb (1 kg) body weight of the animal twice a day.

The course of treatment is 10-20 days.

In case of hyardiosis the dose is 100 mg/lb/kg of animal body weight.

Dogs: 15-25 mg / 2.2lb (1kg) yelled at 12 hour intervals;

In protozoic infections, higher doses should be used – 25-30 mg / 2.2lb (1kg) oral at 12-hour intervals.

Cats: 8-10 mg / 2.2lb (1kg) oral at 12-hour intervals.

In protozoic infections, higher doses of 25-30 mg / 2.2lb (1kg) oral at 12-hour intervals should be used.

 

For the treatment of cows and bulls-producers in trichomoniasis the drug is prescribed individually orally for 3-4 days, twice a day at the rate of 10 mg metronidazole per 2.2lb (1 kg) of animal weight;

For the treatment of pigs with balanceidiosis the preparation is administered orally twice a day for 3 consecutive days at the rate of 10 mg metronidazole per 2.2lb (1 kg) animal weight;

For pigs with dysentery the preparation is used orally once a day for 4 consecutive days at the rate of 25 mg per 2.2lb (1 kg) animal weight

 

 

Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy (first trimester), lactation.

 

 

Cautions :

Not used in the first trimester of pregnancy. Use in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy is possible only when the expected benefit to animals exceeds the potential risk to fetuses.
If it is necessary to stop using the drug during lactation, feeding of the offspring should be stopped.

 

 

Side effects:

Nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, constipation, diarrhea are possible from the digestive system; from the Central Nervous System and peripheral nervous system – increased excitability, sleep disturbance.

 

 

Storage:

Dry, dark place at temperatures between 32-70F (0°C and 20°C).

Shelf life – 3 years from the date of manufacture.
